As long as I can remember, I’ve been gaming since I’ve been 3 years old. I remember just like it was yesterday. I received my first Nintendo Controller Deck system from one of my uncles and I remember playing Mario Bros. Never would I have thought that at the young age of 3, I would be submerged in so many videogames in the future. Since, that time I have gone through every generation of gaming that has been released. Man those were some good times. Moving on to much more modern times, we been blessed with the generation of VR, top of the line Xbox and PS and gaming PC handhelds.
I could go and elaborate about the console wars and what is better, but there is another little crevice I would like to talk about. That in particular is the gaming PC handheld market. Im not gone lie. Its not the best, but its not bad either. The price range is so so, but as a gamer, you are used to saving bread and other resources to get what you want. The market for PC handheld is pretty good. More and more every few couple of months, new tech is being released to meet the needs of needy consumers who really want them. Myself, I was skeptical at first, but I remember buying my Steam Deck through Gamestop. They were selling refurbished models and I wasn’t really up to paying that price at the time, but with a little patience and a pay as you go model through Paypal, I worked something out.
I’ve had my Steam Deck for 3 years now, and I must say its a brilliant piece of tech. Not in a million years would I have thought that it would replace most of my mainstay consoles. When I have the time throughout the week, my main go to is the Xbox Series X . Not only do I have a large collection of games, but I can also gameshare with my wife who is also an avid gamer as well. The problem with that statement I just mentioned is that we are both parents of two fresh kids. A two year old daughter and a 6 month son.
With our time divided and switching between schedules of jobs, its pretty hard to come home and want to sit up in front of a tv and play a game. The Steam Deck has pretty much taken that role over and it has worked wonders for me as far as gaming. Hell, I finish more games on my deck than I do the consoles. Maybe the fact of comfortability and the portability is what I needed all along. As soon as I find another one for a feasible price, I’ll be sure to get one for my wife.
As of me writing this post, I have only played around with only two other gaming PC handhelds. The first being the Asus Rog Ally and the second being Lenovo Legion Go. Both are good at what they do, but they have one thing that just didnt compare like a Steam Deck. Steam Deck is a budget handheld Gaming PC…….them other two I just mentioned, you guessed it. So not budget. As of late, they slowly have been coming down in price, but still for what I coughed up for my Steam Deck at the time, it was worth it. Im pretty sure I could do another pay as go model through Paypal to get one, but as of late my attention has been directed towards Nintendo Switch 2.
If price isn’t an option for you, then by all means I WOULD RECOMMEND getting a handheld gaming PC. They come in quite handy and they are good for some internet surfing from time to time. As of late there has been quite a few dedicated ports for games that have been made for the Steam Deck and other Gaming PCs. When you need a good complete game to play on the go, that’s where handheld gaming PCs come in clutch. Not too long along, if you remember, we were hauling laptops around to play Diablo, not anymore. Them handheld gaming PCs do the job and do it pretty darn well. Next time you out and about, even if you cant afford it, do yourself some window shopping and when you get enough bread saved up, treat yourself to one. I promise you, you wont regret it. Until next time! Deuces!!!
